Brass Cash Registers
Front and Back Name Plates

NCR made the top signs and many of them were personalized for the customer. They also put the customers name on the front lid and the back. The first registers were wood and the names appeared on the lid. Many of these were removed which left 2 holes and a shadow where the name plate was. The first picture shows the shadow and the second shows a lid name plate.

This is an example of a name plate on the back of a wooden register.

As explained before, they started making the flat brass registers. Here are few examples. The first is a screw on lid plaque. The second is a name on the back. This part of the plating process which is really unusual.
